Repatriation services from COVID-19 hot spots
Capital Air Ambulance is working closely with health and travel authorities to offer secure medical repatriation flights for clients that become injured or fall otherwise unwell in high risk areas where COVID-19 is present.
Using a secure 'tarmac transfer' Capital Air Ambulance can continue to safely bring home patients who are not currently infected with COVID-19 from all areas. Each patient transfer is coordinated in partnership with Public Health England.
Patients with known or suspected COVID-19 infection will soon be able to be transferred home, by mobilising the new Capital Air Ambulance Portable Isolation Unit, which will be in operation shortly. This military-grade unit will ensure the safety of the Transfer Team and wider public when patients with this infection are moved.
All cases are planned and coordinated by the Capital Air Ambulance Medical Director and Chief Nurse, in consultation with Public Health England.
