Join the Capital Air Ambulance team


Capital Air Ambulance is growing. Following the acquisition of new aircraft we are looking for additional medical professionals to join the team, as well as office support team members with European language capabilities.

ICU Doctors

Capital is looking for experienced ICU-qualified doctors.

Essential requirements

  • Full and unrestricted registration in the United Kingdom
  • At least 5 years post-registration practice
  • Primary postgraduate examination in either anaesthesia, emergency medicine or acute medicine
  • At least 2 years post-registration experience in a critical care environment with confidence and familiarity with transportation of ventilated and inotrope/pressor-dependent patients.
  • Currently working in a critical care environment and able to continue working in ICU on at least part-time basis to ensure skills currency
  • Currency with ALS and BLS within the past 3 years
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and commitment
  • Good health record
  • Physical fitness for aeromedical work
  • CRB clearance

Desirable but not essential requirements

  • Previous experience in aeromedical transportation of critically ill or injured patients
  • Final postgraduate examination in either anaesthesia, emergency medicine or acute medicine
  • Postgraduate qualification in intensive care medicine, such as the European Diploma in ICM, the UK Diploma in ICM or any other similar qualification which is deemed acceptable by the Medical Director
  • Accreditation, CCST or CCT in intensive care medicine
  • CCAT basic course, or equivalent
  • ATLS or similar course within past 5 years
  • APLS, EPLS or similar course in past 5 years
  • Ability to work efficiently under stressful conditions

ICU Nurses

Capital is looking for qualified ICU nurses.

Essential requirements

  • Full and unrestricted registration in the United Kingdom
  • RCN membership
  • At least 3 years experience at staff nurse level or above
  • At least 2 years experience in a critical care environment with confidence and familiarity in transportation of ventilated and inotrope/pressor-dependent patients
  • Currently able to work in ICU on a full or part-time basis to ensure skills currency
  • Resuscitation training (e.g. ALS, ILS) within the past 3 years
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and commitment
  • Good health record
  • Physical fitness for aeromedical work
  • CRB clearance

Desirable but not essential criteria

  • Previous experience in aeromedical transportation of critically ill or injured patients
  • Approved and accredited ICU course qualification
  • CCAT basic (foundation level) course, or equivalent
  • Ability to work efficiently under stressful conditions

Continuing Airworthiness/Part M Manager

Capital Air Ambulance is the UK’s largest air ambulance operator, based at Exeter Airport and part of the Aviation section within Rigby Group Plc. We own and run a fleet of air and ground ambulances that are equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities, enabling us to undertake emergency medical repatriations from major UK, European and long-haul locations across the world. Our multi-lingual medevac team includes emergency, critical care and other specialist doctors and nurses, highly trained pilots and operations staff based at Exeter and Birmingham.

Reporting to the Accountable Manager, the Continuing Airworthiness/Part M Manager is a Post Holder position within our company. You will also be responsible for oversight of all hangar activities, which includes basic line maintenance and procurement activities.

We are looking for a team player to work as part of our existing crew who have a varied and interesting workload. The ideal candidate will be flexible and happy to work in a fast-moving environment where the priorities can often change without notice. You will be professional and proactive in your approach to working with people and processes, along with having high individual standards.

Essential requirements

  • Five years’ experience in a Part M Organisation.
  • Knowledge of AOC Operators’ requirements and specifications
  • Experience and expertise in application of aviation safety standards
  • Knowledge of quality systems
  • A relevant engineering degree or an aircraft maintenance technician qualification OR ten years total experience in a Part M Organisation
  • Experience of CAW on LJ 45, Beech 200 or similar types
  • Knowledge of maintenance methods
  • Knowledge of EASA Parts M and 145 and EASA AIR OPS

Desirable but not essential criteria

  • B1 OR B2 Part 66 licence
  • LJ 45, Beech 200 or similar engineering type rating

Flexibility on working days may be considered for the right candidate.

A full UK driving licence is required, as travel will form part of this role.
